Georgia and Egon

The cement project is due on Tuesday, 3 days from now. It's coming along, and should be done in time, although it won't be the masterpiece I was hoping for. Usually things that come out of beginning art classes aren't masterpieces I suppose. I have to remember that somehow...

Painting is going well. It continues to be my most inspiring class this semester. We are working on a 2 week still life, toy boats and dolls. There will be two projects left after the still life. First will be a divided landscape, which is like a landscape with benefits. Then we get a choice between painting a self portrait or a master copy. I'm really excited about the last one. I have an idea for combining the two, such that it will be a portrait of me, from behind, with a mastercopy on either side. I'm thinking of Georgia O'Keeffe and Egon Schiele. O'Keeffe whose work I very much admire - and Schiele, whose paintings have been hung in my home since my birth. In some odd way I think he has shaped my views of art more than anyone else. Here are 2 by Schiele:

Having a portrait of me as an artist looking at two of my biggest artistic influences would be a psychological portrait as well as physical. The contrast between Schiele and O'Keeffe would also be representative of the lighter and darker sides of my self.
